Villas for rent and apartments for rent in Denia on Spain's Costa Blanca including Pedreguer and Monte Solana. Denia has many fantastic first line properties such villas for rent, apartments and penthouses to let close to the town centre, and wonderful privately-owned country villas in the mountains, especially in the Monte Pedreguer area.

There are also two prestigious and popular golf courses in easy reach of Denia - the La Sella and Oliva Nova Golf Courses. Both golf courses have outstanding facilities and a fine selection of villas and apartments to rent with both private and communal facilities.

Denia, a large cosmopolitan town at the northern tip of the Costa Blanca coast, is separated from Javea to the south by the spectacular Montgo mountain, said to resemble a sleeping elephant. Being a working town, Denia has a genuine Spanish feel to it, quite unlike many other coastal towns which were once fishing villages. At its historic centre is the 16th century castle, set high on a hill, and with spectacular views.

The commercial centre is nearby around Calle Marques de Campos. Here, the streets have shady plane trees, cafes and designer shops, and at night throughout the year the town buzzes with nightlife with hundreds of bars, live entertainment and restaurants, many of which are right on the sea front. Denia has real charm and atmosphere. The large, busy port and marina is well worth a visit, and from here you can get a ferry to Ibiza and the other Balearic islands.

The 20-kilometre coast is made up of small pretty coves. The beaches are wide, lined with brightly coloured restaurants and bars, and excellent for water sports such as windsurfing. Every year they are awarded the European Blue Flag for their water quality and clean fine sand. To the north are the fine sandy beaches of Les Marines and Les Bovetes and the shingle beaches of Les Deveses and L' Almadrava which are craggy and rocky, and to the south is the rocky area of Les Rotes with its spectacular coves of transparent waters, ideal for diving or snorkelling.

The sun is said to shine here 320 days a year, and the temperature is always mild, averaging 18º C. There is plenty to do, the Montgo is ideal for mountain walking, the surrounding hills have caves popular with pot-holers and there are two high quality golf courses at La Sella and Oliva Nova, with a wide choice of villas and apartments.

The town has a long history dating back to the Romans who used it as an important base en route to North Africa. During the 5th century the cathedrals dedicated to western gods were removed and around 100 years later the Moors seized the town. It took until the 11th century for Denia be returned to Spanish control. The area experienced great economic growth in the middle of the 19th century, processing raisins, but when this was no longer profitable, Denia turned to tourism, which is still its primary source of revenue. Today, Denia is a popular holiday resort offering a good selection of holiday villas and apartments for rent.
